Pirelli announces tyre allocations for Jerez, including development front SC1 and rear SCX solutions
Pirelli have unveiled the tools they’ll be providing WorldSBK riders with as they take to the track for the season’s final weekend
In preparation for their mad dash to the finish line, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s tyre solutions have been laid out for them courtesy of Pirelli. Pressure continues to mount as anticipation builds for the climactic final round of the 2025 campaign, necessitating tyres to navigate the signature Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, Andalucia.
WorldSBK REAR TYRE ALLOCATIONS: Development SCQ tyre returns for its fourth round
In WorldSBK’s long races, riders will have the choice between the SC0 soft and the SCX E0126 developmental supersoft tyres; the latter has proven a hit as it has been frequently relied upon by the grid, such as at Estoril, where it was the most utilised rear tyre across all three races. For the Free Practice, Tissot Superpole and Superpole Race, riders will have access to the development SCQ E0479 spec tyre.
WorldSBK FRONT TYRE ALLOCATIONS: One hard and two medium options
On the front axle, WorldSBK riders will have the choice of the SC2 hard tyre, the SC1 medium tyre, and the E0672 development medium tyre. The new development medium debuted last round at Estoril, where it was utilised frequently. The tyre continues its development, with Pirelli engineers striving to provide an option that offers increased stability in corner entries and under braking.
WorldSSP ALLOCATIONS: Two tyre options per axle
The FIM Supersport World Championship’s riders will take to the Andalucian track with the same tools they were provided with at Estoril. On the front, teams can choose between SC1 and SC2 tyres, while on the rear axle, they will have the options of the softer SCX or SC0 Tyres.
BARBIER ON PIRELLI’S TYRE SELECTION: “We are bringing again the E0126 supersoft because we believe it can adapt very well to the characteristics of the track”
Pirelli Motorcycle Racing Director Giorgio Barbier spoke on Pirelli’s decision to outfit the grid with the solutions listed above, saying: “This season we introduced several innovations affecting most of the range, especially the rear options. The new structure applied to the SC0 and SCX compounds has provided very positive feedback, so much so that their respective development versions, E0125 and E0126, were among the most used in the rounds where they were made available. This allowed us to collect important data over the course of the season, and at the final round in Jerez we will be able to assess the work done and the results achieved. In Spain, we are bringing again the E0126 supersoft because we believe it can adapt very well to the characteristics of the track, and at the same time we want to ensure continuity between the rear specifications used in this round and in the previous one in Estoril, also to support the testing work on the new front development solution, the E0672, which made its debut in Portugal last weekend, receiving very positive comments and wide appreciation, but still needs further evaluation to assess its performance fully. The SC1 compound it uses is now well-established and widely known, and we focused on developing a new structure that offers more stability under braking and when entering corners. So far, the initial feedback from riders who tested it in Estoril has been encouraging. Still, it will be interesting to assess its behaviour on a circuit like Jerez, which is more demanding on the front-end. We will also bring back the E0479 rear SCQ development solution, which we have already made available at four rounds, including Misano, where, with asphalt temperatures exceeding 47°C, it was widely used and well received. If we find similar conditions in Jerez, we will be able to collect further valuable data.” Included the E0479 extrasoft, a tyre that showed promising results in terms of feedback and performance at Misano.”
